Young lad bowled over with garden cricket wicket installation

The cricketing skills of a potential England player can continue to be nurtured and improved thanks to the installation of a back garden practice area laid by Artificial Lawn Company using its Tournament 10 Cricket Wicket grass with Interplay 5mm underlay. The requirement was for a professional surface for year-round practice, come rain or shine, so good drainage and a consistent bounce were essential.

The previous practice wicket was worn out and uneven, which meant that the young cricketer was unable to practice properly, which in turn meant that he was not advancing as quickly or proficiently as he knew he could do. The new surface created a free-draining, ultra-durable surface with a consistent bounce. It also meant that he could practice throughout the year without the surface becoming waterlogged, wearing away and becoming slippery and muddy, or compacting too hard in the hot summer sun.

The installation of a cricket wicket requires a more specific approach to ensure flat and compact surface levels for a consistent and robust bounce. Drainage is crucial to ensure that nothing gets waterlogged, and the grass itself needs to be hard-wearing to withstand the constant wear and tear.

The boy's father commented:

"We had a cricket pitch installed recently, and the results were amazing; a lot of preparation work went into creating a solid base, a specific shock pad and the T10 cricket wicket grass. The end result was a realistic pitch with consistent bounce. This has resulted in my son having a significantly improved batting surface and allowing him to enjoy his practice sessions in the garden. Furthermore, I can see the potential of how the new cricket pitch surface will improve his game. I would certainly recommend ALC for your garden cricket pitch installations; they understand the requirements and have the skilled workforce and specific cricket pitch products to deliver an exceptional pitch installation."

Tournament 10 is a tried and tested tufted artificial cricket wicket surface that has been used extensively in schools, clubs, and private gardens. It is a dense Knit de Knit polypropylene with a fully textured surface. It can also be cleaned with a power wash or brush machine. Fitted with the 5mm Interplay Cricket Underlay, which is made from 100% mixed blend polyester waste, cricket enthusiasts have the perfect surface for improving their game.
