Inspired by the south American cuisine of their homeland, couple Gus and Kathe started serving the food they were missing from a stall at Camden market. People very quickly fell in love with their rich and vibrant dishes and Arepa & Co has been conquering the hearts of Londoners ever since.

Upstairs at Oslo has cemented itself as one of the best music venues on the circuit with an eclectic live calendar for 2023 spanning big underplays, the most hyped new bands alongside takeovers from the likes of Hot Chip, London Jazz Festival, Mirrors Festival & Visions Festival.

With the popular 2 for £12 cocktails every day until 11pm and DJ sets from some of the best promoters & tastemakers in London throughout the week including takeovers from Balamii, No Signal, Wheelie, Plastic Factory, Bondax, Locomotive Disco, Oslo knew the relaxed food from Arepa & Co would be the perfect fit.

At Oslo, the Arepa chefs prepare every dish fresh and made to order. The menu features Arepas (round and flat cornbreads filled with combinations of meats and veg), Cachapas (sweetcorn pancakes topped with different savoury fillings), and traditional rice bowls (filled with black beans, cheese, fried plantain and a choice or meat or veg).

The foundation of the cuisine is corn, black beans, plantain and yuca, used and prepared in different ways and normally topped or complemented with a selection of braised meats. As the cuisine is based around corn, most of the menu is naturally gluten-free, and of course there are many vegetarian and vegan options.

There is also a fantastic 'Tapas Style' menu of small plates perfect to share and a great way to try the richness of Venezuelan cuisine. Tequeños with guava sauce and the Yuca Chips with garlic mayo are not to be missed! And when it comes to weekends, the brunch is definitely something to try.

Oslo regulars already have faves - the irresistible 'Tequeños' (moreish crispy cheese pastries with guava dip), the legendary 'Yuca Fries' (deep-fried cassava chips tossed in a unique paprika seasoning), the guava-glazed fried chicken and of course, the Arepas, with a wide choice of fillings.

Arepa & Co at Oslo is available seven days a week. Small plates start from £5.50; Arepas from £8.95; Cachapas from £11.25; Bowls from £10.75.

Monday to Friday, 4pm-10.30pm

Oslo

Opened by DHP Family in 2014, Oslo is home to a kitchen, bar and live music space for gigs and club nights. Originally built by North London Railway Company, as a railway station in 1870, the two storey building was later used as a ticket office during World War II. It is the only surviving part of the original station which was closed in 1970s.

Arepa & Co

Arepa & Co started as a market stall in Camden Market with their first permanent site in Haggerston along the Regents Canal. Their second location opened in 2018 under the arches of the railway in the infamous Paradise Row in Bethnal Green and last year they took their food to South London by opening their third site in Stockwell. Arepa & Co made it their mission to introduce London to the flavours of Venezuelan cuisine. They emphasise that not all 'South American' food was created equal and that they want to show Londoners what Venezuelan food is really about.
