That is why LOCTITE® continues to expand its WRAS approved range, examples of which will be centre-stage at PHEX 2022. They include LOCTITE 55, the must-have sealing cord for pipe threads and fittings and LOCTITE 5400 liquid thread sealant where joints need to be locked and remain pressure tight for the lifetime of the parts; it also carries a hazard-free label.
In terms of approvals, LOCTITE 55 and LOCTITE 5400 have a lot going for them - one product for three applications. As well as being WRAS-compliant for potable water, they are also approved for gas (DVGW) and compressed air.
LOCTITE 55 sealing cord produces a pressure-tight joint that can be re-aligned without the need to re-apply the cord. Suitable for use on metal or plastic, or a combination of both, LOCTITE 55 takes seconds to apply and is much more convenient than PTFE tape or hemp and paste. It is highly economical too. The new 160m pack is enough to seal over 400, ½-inch joints.
LOCTITE 5400 is a pipe sealant which locks and seals metal pipe threads in any position. It can be used on taper/parallel, taper/taper and parallel/parallel threads and to seal olives on compression joints. Parts can be realigned prior to curing and once cured the joint will resist the burst pressure of the pipe.
When it comes to drinking water, protection against corrosion over a system's lifetime is key to avoiding contamination. With this in mind, latest developments in the LOCTITE range now include WRAS-approved thread lockers with patented cure chemistry that optimise the performance of anti-corrosion, zinc-flake coated fasteners and passive substrates such as stainless steel and zinc dichromate. WRAS-approved threadlocking adhesives, LOCTITE 2400 and 2700 can also lock and seal brass fittings in drinking water applications.
Anything from pipes, fittings, valves, pumps, taps, showers, washing machines and dishwashers, to coffee machines, boilers and toilets, should be WRAS-compliant. Quality is key here and with the LOCTITE WRAS-approved range, safety is assured for both plumbers and consumers.
