Release: Local PR girl takes up 2.6 Challenge for struggling charity client

Hello,

I'm usually sending you information about my clients but this time it's about me!
I'm joining the #2.6Challenge to raise money for Holding On Letting Go, my charity client that could really do with a boost at the moment.
They support bereaved children and with the Covid pandemic, they are supporting many families as a result of deaths caused by it.
I hope you can give me a bit of column space!
Let me know if you need anything else!

Kent businesswoman takes on marathon challenge for bereavement charity

A Faversham running novice is aiming to complete a marathon in a week to raise funds for Kent children's bereavement charity, Holding On Letting Go (HOLG).

PR consultant and founder of Izzy PR, Sarah Hawes from Boughton, is joining thousands of others taking on the 2.6 Challenge in an effort to recover some of her charity client's lost income, caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Fitness fan Sarah is hoping to clock up 26 miles over seven days as well as attempting 26 daily press ups and sit-ups too.
It's all part of the 2.6 Challenge, set up by the organisers of the cancelled London Marathon to help charities recoup some of the billions they face losing due to the coronavirus outbreak. Participants are invited to complete a challenge related to 26, the number of miles in a marathon. To continue the theme and encourage as many donations as possible, Sarah is asking supporters to give just £2.60 each.

Rochester-based charity HOLG is unique in that it helps children who have experienced death; there are already many adult-focused bereavement charities. The heart-breaking cases include car accidents, so the death is sudden, other accidents which means a loved one is disabled or severely injured and different to how they were before; for some of them, a parent took their own life, or a sibling died. Through support groups, activities and weekends, the charity supports children and their families, helping them express their emotions, bring them together and look to the future. HOLG also works with families when they know a bereavement is expected - through terminal illness, or now, through coronavirus.

Having worked with HOLG for many months, promoting their events and thanking supporters, Sarah explains why the charity needs a funding boost now more than ever:

"I've seen the amazing impact that HOLG has had on children and their families across the county during the most difficult times in their lives. Sadly, due to the pandemic, many more children are likely to face bereavement, so it's vital the charity has the funding necessary to carry on its important work.

"As well as raising lots of money, I wanted to take on a real challenge.I'm 40, the same age as the marathon, but in all that time I've never been tempted to run it, until now...albeit in little chunks each day! I'm hoping for people to sponsor me £2.60 each so that lots of smaller, affordable donations all add up!"
