KENT LIFE'S QUINTESSENTIAL COUNTRY WEDDING EXPERIENCE

TICKS ALL THE BOXES FOR WEDDINGS IN 2020

For Valentine's and Christmas brides-to-be taking the plunge and looking for the quintessential Kentish country wedding, Kent Life Heritage Farm Park combines the nostalgic vintage chic of its perfectly preserved, original rural buildings with the natural beauty of its historic farm and gardens.

Home to the last working coal-fired Oast House with hop gardens, the venue provides an abundance of dreamy backdrops to guarantee plenty of those all-important Insta-moments. From pastel wellies lined up outside the village hall to a romantic embrace amid the hop bines, there is no shortage of characterful, quirky settings to tell each couple's individual love story.

Truly a wedding experience, guests can enjoy more than 200 farm animals and explore 28 acres of farmland during the celebrations.

Says Kent Life wedding co-ordinator Tracy Locke, "Kent Life ticks so many boxes when it comes to satisfying the heart's desires of today's couples.  The Kentish countryside setting with its vintage buildings is relaxed and informal and offers the added bonus of the farm experience to make the day extra-memorable.  Quirky touches like tractor rides and Tug of War on the green also mean that couples can build their bespoke celebration."

"This year, we're introducing some traditional retro-style games as part of our entertainment line-up, including: Giant Jenga; Connect Four; a coconut shy; village games; and an ice cream machine.  Our Wedding brochure is also getting a re-vamp in 2020."

Brides looking for a vintage theme to their nuptials can choose from the exclusive use of three historic function rooms:

  • A ‘pretty in pink' 19thCentury Chapel originally built in Cuxton in 1897 and reconstructed at Kent Life in 2000 (up to 70 guests).
  • Ulcombe Village Hall is an authentic wartime village hall (up to 100 guests).
  • The Wagon Store with timber beams, decorated with fairy lights and dried Kentish hops from Kent Life's hop garden (up to 100 guests).

During the evening up to 200 guests can be accommodated using both the Wagon Store and the Village Hall for the ultimate after-party that caters for both those who love to dance the night away and those who prefer to sit and chat and take advantage of the hospitality.

Vincent's Catering offers a range of menus from a four-course wedding breakfast or luxury BBQ to a choice of BBQ, Hog Roast, Butties and Baps and traditional buffets for evening receptions, all using the freshest, locally-sourced ingredients.

The venue also offers:

  • Ample free parking for guests.
  • The choice of two hotels within two minutes' walk of the venue.
  • Easy access by boat to the Archbishops Palace for those marrying there.
  • Flexible tailor-made service for wedding celebrations and civil ceremonies.
  • Total package available with no hidden costs.

Note to editors

Kent Life Heritage Farm Park is a 28-acre working farm and visitor attraction situated in Maidstone, Kent on the site of the original Sandling Farm.  It was originally part of the wider Allington Castle estate, owned by Thomas Wyatt in the mid-16thCentury.  Today, it is one of the few remaining places in Britain where hops are grown, harvested, dried and packed by hand in its magnificent Oast house, using only traditional techniques, at the annual Hops n Harvest Beer Festival in September.

Open throughout the year, Kent Life tells the Kent farming story and provides a fun family day out discovering more than 200 farmyard animals, indoor and outdoor play areas, and Kentish gardens and orchards.  Visitors can step back in time to experience Kent's farming heritage in the Vintage Village, which is made up of reconstructions of original rural Kent buildings that have been re-built brick by brick.

The attraction also hosts a series of seasonal special events throughout the year, catering for the whole family.  Schools can take advantage of a varied schools' programme of educational activities and interactive learning linked to the national curriculum. Bespoke experiential event packages, catering for weddings, social functions and children's birthday parties, are also available.
