Redhead Day goes down as a red hot success!
Fantastic event to celebrate gingers takes place on day of Royal Wedding

Almost 600 redheads attended Redhead Day UK at Cecil Sharp House near London's Regents Park on Saturday 19 May 2018 to celebrate their gingerness.

The annual event, which, this year raised money for the British Skin Foundation and its research into skin cancer, coincided with the Royal Wedding and the marriage of one of the country's most famous gingers – Prince Harry – to the US actress Meghan Markle.

Emma Kelly, who organised Redhead Day UK, said: “The day couldn't have gone any better – it really was perfect! Harry and Meghan kicked it off in style by getting hitched and the fun didn't stop after that!”

“We'd like to give a massive thanks to our 600 redheads for attending and the money they raised for the British Skin Foundation.”

“The weather made everything even better – although, of course, being redheads, we had to make use of the shade before too long!”

Attendees were able to take advantage of the scorching summer weather (which sent redhead running for the shade), with temperatures in London topping a sultry 21ºC.

The day featured a range of entertainment, with the number one attraction being the Royal Wedding, shown on a big screen at midday.

Event sponsor Gingerella from Karma Cola helped event organisers to hand out 3,000 chilled cans ginger ale. The company brought along their limited edition HRH Gingerfella drinks – created especially for the occasion for the crowds watching the Royal Wedding, as a thank you for their support.

Revellers were also treated to comedy from
Alasdair Beckett-King, recently labelled as “one to watch” byTime Out, talks from Jacky Colliss Harvey, author of ‘My Life as a Redhead’ and Dr Adam Rutherford, who waxed lyrical on ginger genetics.

During the taking of a group photo, an orangutan in fancy dress made a sudden appearance, while the Daily Star were also in attendance to document the great time everyone had in a Facebook video:

The date for the next Redhead event is yet to be announced, but those interested in attending can look forward to music, comedy, talks, stalls, activities, games and, obviously, a whole lot more gingerness!
