Grittleton House to Play Host to Grittleton Plant and Spring Fair
Grittleton House to Play Host to Grittleton Plant and Spring Fair

On Bank Holiday Monday 28 May 2018, Grittleton House is set to play host to the annual Action Medical Research Plant and Spring Fair.  The stunning Victorian Manor House will welcome visitors to the house and grounds for the sixth year running.

The fair promises the perfect spring day out, with plenty to satisfy plant lovers, ‘foodies’, and those who appreciate handmade gifts and artfully crafted accessories. Offering over 50 different stalls, the fair’s vendors will range from specialist nurseries selling plants to delicatessen food outlets.  The items available to purchase will be extensive, with something for everyone. Products are reported to range from scented bath products to one-of-a-kind presents, handmade jewellery and more, with every sale contributing towards the event’s charitable aims.

Grittleton House’s gates will open at 11.00 am, with the event running until 3.00 pm. Entrance to the Spring Fair will be charged at £3 per person, with children under 12 able to attend for free. Once inside, visitors will have the opportunity to view the house and grounds, including its famed Italianate gardens. There will be refreshments and ice-creams available, something to keep the whole family happy.

Special guest Paddington Bear will also be present, and on hand to meet and greet visitors both young and old. He’ll be happy to have his photograph taken and is sure to put a smile on the faces of the fair’s more youthful attendees.

Action Medical Research, the charity that Grittleton Plant and Spring Fair will be supporting, is an inarguably worthy cause. Offering a UK-wide service, it aims to change children’s lives through encouraging and enabling medical research and the advances it can offer. Funding an array of cutting-edge initiatives, it delivers real benefits to babies, children, and young people alike, but needs on-going funding to continue with its vitally important work.

This is something that the team behind Grittleton Plant and Spring Fair hope to help it achieve. As Tracey Edwards, community fundraising manager for Action Medical Research states: “We are thrilled to be able to host this very popular Action Medical Research Plant and Spring Fair at Grittleton House, and are extremely grateful to the Shipp family for their wonderful support in allowing the event to be held at their home.”

“This year is the sixth year we have hosted [the event] and we are looking forward to a fantastic day raising vital funds to support Action’s life-saving and life-changing research projects. We simply cannot fund our research without the kindness and contributions of our wonderful supporters and the people who will visit the event on 28 May.

“Grittleton House was the ideal venue for us when we were looking for a location to host the event. Spectacular, with stunning gardens, it is in the perfect part of the country, being easily accessible from Bath, Bristol, Swindon, Chippenham, and beyond. It also has all of the elements we need to ensure our visitors can enjoy a fabulous day out whilst raising funds.

“The team at Grittleton have been a joy to work with, and so accommodating and supportive. The event is certainly becoming a fixture in the Wiltshire calendar and we are very grateful to Grittleton House for their on-going help.”
