Data management specialist sees demand spike for assistance as UK firms scramble to ensure compliance in relation to new regulations
Tailored Data Solutions - a leading data
management, cleansing and enhancing solutions provider - has confirmed an upsurge
in interest for its services in the wake of the General Data Protection
Regulation (GDPR) which came into effect last month (25 May 2018) in the UK.
The company has reported growth of 200 per cent last month, year on year, as
the regulations came in.
GDPR has set out new rules with regards to
storing and using customer data, as well as requiring that data be both
accurate and up-to-date as a legal requirement.
Now Tailored Data Solutions has lifted the lid
on just how much direction some UK companies are lacking when it comes to GDPR
compliance. Tailored Data Solutions has found that many firms have no internal
resource to take their GDPR plans forward, and lack both the time and the
authority to action a strategy in response to GDPR.
Furthermore, it has been found that many of the
organisations trying to come in line with GDPR at the last minute have a
knowledge gap on the relevant documentation needed and the processing
activities which they are obliged to undertake in order to comply.
After spending months helping companies to
prepare for incoming GDPR, Tailored Data Solutions believes that there are many
more organisations who are simply in denial concerning their obligations,
choosing to ignore the ramifications of GDPR and risking severe
penalties.
Mike Lenard, owner Tailored Data Solutions,
said: "For businesses which haven’t started their GDPR compliance journey,
we need to speak to them. It only recently emerged that retail giant Dixons
Carphone had 1.2 million personal data records hacked. GDPR involves ongoing
compliance and isn’t a 'one-time thing' which is going to go away. We urge all
organisations who haven't considered GDPR up until this point to look seriously
at how their business practices will be affected."
The data management experts at Tailored Data Solutions have recommended using tried and tested compliance plans in order to help tick off all GDPR's requirements and advised that organisations discuss potential non-compliances with data management professionals before implementing their GDPR strategy.
