Cardiff Council’s Children’s Play Services has launched a brand new website to make play opportunities across the city more accessible to families.
The new site at https://cardiffchildrensplayservices.co.uk/ brings together information on the wide range of open and closed access play sessions, inclusive programmes, resources and community-led initiatives that take place to support children’s wellbeing and development through play.
The development of the site by Play Services, part of Children’s Services, aligns with the Council’s Stronger, Fairer, Greener vision - supporting the objective that Cardiff is a great place to grow up, by making play more accessible, inclusive, and sustainable.
The website offers a vibrant, user-friendly experience where families can explore what’s on offer across the city. Key features include a calendar of weekly and holiday play sessions, the ability to sign up for play sessions, details about the Inclusive Play Programme for children aged 5 to 14 with disabilities and additional needs, and information about Play Streets – the initiative that enables residents to apply to close their street to traffic for two hours a month to create safe, outdoor play spaces.
Visitors to the site can stay up to date with the latest plans for this year’s Play Day event in August.
Cardiff’s Play Sufficiency Assessment, the latest summary on Cardiff’s play provision, which has been recently submitted to Welsh Government, is also available on the ‘About Us’ page.
Cabinet Member for Tackling Poverty and Supporting Young People, Cllr Peter Bradbury said: “Play is essential to every child’s wellbeing and development. With the launch of our new Children’s Play Services website, we’re making it easier than ever for families across Cardiff to discover and access the wide range of play opportunities available in their communities.
“This is about creating safe, inclusive, and welcoming spaces where children can thrive.”
