New café opportunity for Parc Cefn Onn

4.6.25

An opportunity to develop a new café to serve the tens of thousands of people who visit the historic Grade II listed Parc Cefn Onn every year has been announced.

The Green Flag Award winning park in North Cardiff is home to tumbling streams, winding paths, a magnificent collection of native and exotic trees, as well as areas of semi-natural woodland. Now, Cardiff Council are advertising the chance to convert the former caretaker's bungalow into a café, so that visitors can also enjoy a cup of tea or coffee at the park.

Cabinet Member for Culture, Parks and Events, Cllr Jennifer Burke, said: "Parc Cefn Onn is such a beautiful space, and a lot of work has been done over the years to attract more visitors including improving access, upgrading toilet facilities, and restoring its historic features.

"Finding an operator to establish and run a park café is the next step in improving facilities and encouraging even more people to get outdoors and explore one Cardiff's slightly less well-known green spaces."

The two-bedroom bungalow can be found close to the main park entrance. The space includes a small outdoor area which could be used for seating.

The 66.6 hectare country park is open 7 days a week, benefits from free car parking and is close to Lisvane train station.

Full details of the opportunity will be available at the following links towards the beginning of July: https://cardiffcouncilproperty.com/ and at https://fletchermorgan.co.uk/

As a consequence of the proposal, legal notices have been published advertising the ‘disposal' of172.5 square metresof land at Parc Cefn Onn.

‘Disposal' is a legal term which, in this case, refers to the granting of a lease. All facilities will remain in the ownership of Cardiff Council.
