Cardiff Council crews faced challenging conditions, working throughout the early hours and into this morning, responding to incidents across the city caused by the arrival of Storm Darragh.
Parks and highways teams have responded to reports of fallen trees since around 2.30am, arriving on site at Gabalfa Avenue within 20 minutes of the first report to clear the highway.
Since then, crews have attended over 50 callouts in total to clear fallen trees and debris, and the team is prioritising its response based on risk to public safety.
Teams are also out checking gullies, culverts, streams and trash screens to clear any obstructions to help mitigate the risk of surface water flooding.
The quickest way for the public to report issues is via Cardiff Council’s social media channels, with staff on duty to respond and refer the reports to the teams on the ground.
For today the Council is prioritising essential services, particularly in the areas of Social Services, Housing (including homelessness provision), Meals on Wheels, Telecare, Highways, and Harbour Authority.
