Travel advice for Wales vs South Africa on 23 November in Cardiff
Wales will be taking on South Africa on Saturday 23 November at Principality Stadium.
With the kick-off taking place at 5.40pm - there will be a full city centre road closure from 1.30pm until 9.45pm to ensure all ticket holders can get into and out of the stadium safely.
The M4 motorway is expected to be very busy due to this rugby match - so please plan ahead - and avoid the congestion in Cardiff by using the park & ride at the former Toy's R Us site car park in the Sports Village - CF11 0JS.
For up-to-date traffic information on the motorway and trunk roads go to the Traffic Wales website, or @TrafficWalesS on Twitter and Facebook.
Gates open at 3.40pm, those attending the rugby match are strongly advised to plan their journey and get in early. Please pay attention to the prohibited items listed at principalitystadium.wales, in particular the bag policy (no large bags permitted) before travelling into the city.
Cardiff's achievements and future plans as a UNICEF Child Friendly City revealed
Cardiff has made significant strides in promoting children's rights and listening to the views of young people since becoming the first UNICEF Child Friendly City in the UK, a new report has revealed.
Cardiff Council secured the prestigious title from the UK Committee for UNICEF (UNICEF UK) for the city last year, in recognition of the authority's commitment to prioritising children's rights, while ensuring that every child and young person feels safe, valued, and included.
Achievements earned over the past year include:
Children's Rights Education
Cardiff has made substantial progress in educating both adults and children about children's rights. More than 70% of council staff have received training, and nearly all primary schools have joined UNICEF's Rights Respecting Schools Award programme. This initiative ensures that children and young people are aware of their rights and can advocate for themselves.
Participation and Voice
Cardiff has actively involved children and young people in decision-making processes. Over 3,000 hours of active citizenship time were contributed by children and young people, allowing them to participate in important meetings and decisions that shape the city.
Improving Public Spaces
The city has focused on enhancing parks and public spaces to make them more child-friendly. Children and young people have helped to map communities across the city, creating safer and more enjoyable environments for children and young people.
Promoting Equality and Inclusion
Cardiff has undertaken various projects to support girls, children from diverse backgrounds, and those with special educational needs and disabilities. Efforts to address school exclusions and ensure fair treatment for all children have been prioritised.
Detailed design and build contractor appointed for the first phase of Cardiff Crossrail
Following a tender process, Graham Group has been awarded the contract for the Detail Design and Build for the first phase of the Cardiff Crossrail.
This follows the news that both Welsh Government and the UK Government have confirmed their financial contributions for the project - £50m from the UK Government, with Welsh Government match funding a further £50m for the scheme.
Graham Group has been appointed under an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) Contract, which will allow the Council and TfW to work with them during the early stages of the contract to manage the cost of the design and how the project will be built.
