Ordering green recycling bags to residents’ homes will stop on January 31st

From January 31st, residents will no longer be able to order green recycling bags to their home, as a new system is now in place for people to collect the bags from a local shop or a community building where they live.

Bulk deliveries to local stockists will routinely take place and residents can find their local stockist by inputting their postcode into the Cardiff Council's website - through the Cardiff Gov App -

Any resident that is on the assisted lift service will not be affected by this change in service, as routine quarterly deliveries will continue to be made to these properties.

Deliveries of food waste liners, kerbside caddies and kitchen caddies will continue to be delivered to properties in Cardiff on request, through either ordering on the council's website or through the Cardiff Gov App.

A Cardiff council spokesperson said: "Although most people collect their green recycling bags from local stockists already, during the pandemic, the demand for home deliveries did increase significantly.

"Currently 7% of all requests for green recycling bags is for home delivery, but from April until November last year, this equated to 44,000 requests in total. We don't believe this is the best way to dispatch green recycling bags to residents going forwards, as the number of requests has resulted a lead in time of over 6 weeks for them to be delivered.

"Management companies that represent large apartment blocks will still be able to order green recycling bags to their development and the council will try to honour all the requests from green recycling bags that are currently in the system, with a cut off date of February 28th. "

"If anyone has ordered green recycling bags to be delivered to their home and hasn't received them by the end of February, please collect them from your local stockist."

The number of rolls of green recycling bags that can be given to residents at their local stockists will be at the shop owners discretion, based on the stock that they hold.
