Cardiff properties visited after reports of Covid breaches

Twenty-seven properties in Cardiff received visits from Shared Regulatory Services officers and South Wales Police last weekend, following reports of noise, and in some cases breaches of Covid-19 regulations.

The visits included:

  • a gathering outside a student complex of more than 100 people;
  • an Air BnB rental in Roath playing host to a party of more than 30 people;
  • a party at a house in Cathays where more than 20 people were in attendance;
  • an indoor party at a licenced premises in the Splott/Adamsdown area of the city where face masks were not being worn and social distancing rules were not being followed.

As well as taking their details under the Environmental Protection Act 1990, in relation to noise complaints, where appropriate SRS officers also provided information to tenants in relation to Covid regulations.

The licenced premises will be subject to a further review for Covid-19 compliance by SRS officers this week.

Cabinet Member for Environment, Cllr Michael Michael said: "It's really important that people follow the Covid-19 regulations that have been put in place to keep Cardiff safe and help slow the transmission of Covid-19.

"Officers from our Shared Regulatory Service will continue to work closely with South Wales Police over the coming weeks to make sure that happens."
