COVID-19: Free parking for Key Workers in council owned car parks

26/03/20

Key Workers will no longer have to pay to park their vehicle on-street or in Council-owned car parks under new measures released today to help in the fight against COVID-19 outbreak.

Key workers are carrying out vital jobs to ensure that society can continue to operate during the ongoing emergency.

Cllr Caro Wild, Cabinet Member for Transport and Sustainable Planning at Cardiff Council said: "These are unprecedented times. Our Key Workers are doing a magnificent job and we want to do all that we can to support them, while also doing our best to ensure transmission of the virus is slowed or halted.

"We started by closing Heath Park car park to the public, to ensure it could only be used by NHS staff and now we are making all pay & display and council owned car parks free for all key workers. This will continue for the duration of the lock down which has been imposed by the UK Government."

The council-owned car parks which are free for key workers are:

  • Canton car parks (Wellington Street; Leckwith Road; Severn Road; Grey Street and Harvey Street car parks)
  • Havana Street car park
  • The Barrage car park
  • Sophia Gardens car park
  • North Road car park
  • Castle Mews car park
  • Llandaff High Street car park
  • Pontcanna Fields car park
  • Llandaff Fields car park
  • Heath Park car park - NHS staff only.
