The £20,000 shelter, which will provide
protection from bad weather for visitors to the cemetery wanting to pray or
waiting for burial services to commence, has been funded by generous donations
from local mosques, business and community leaders and delivered in partnership
with Cardiff Council, led by Councillors Dilwar Ali and Abdul Sattar.
Cabinet Member with responsibility for
Bereavement Services, Cllr Michael Michael, said: "It's important that our
cemeteries are places of dignified remembrance for people of all faiths and
this new shelter will really enhance the Muslim burial area at Western
Cemetery.
"I'd like to thank everyone who has
donated for their generosity, and all involved in making this happen, for the
time and effort they have put into the project."
