Greater understanding of the blight caused by litter and fly-tipping

Cardiff residents are to be asked for their views on tackling littering and fly-tipping as part of an extensive study by Members of the Environmental Scrutiny Committee.

An online survey goes live on Monday as part of a work programme which will also include shadowing frontline street cleansing staff and detailed analysis of how other UK core cities combat littering.

Chair of the Environmental Scrutiny Committee, Cllr Ramesh Patel said: "I sincerely hope that our study will ultimately help to support initiatives by Cardiff Council aimed at tackling the blight caused by littering and fly-tipping. I am sure residents share my anger when I see litter and mounds of material dumped in public spaces. A greater understanding of public perceptions on this matter will form an important part of our eventual recommendations to the Cabinet, so I urge as many people as possible to let us know what they think."

The online survey takes less than five minutes to complete and will be promoted on the Cardiff Council website and its social media platforms for a period of 3 weeks commencing Monday 18 June. Hard copies will also be available in Community Hubs, Libraries and Leisure Centres. Those who complete the survey will also be entered into a raffle competition for vouchers to the Capital FM Cardiff Bay Beach Festival which runs from the 6thof July until the 2ndof September.
