Winter Maintenance Team

Primary strategic transport links are being treated this morning.

There was a Road Traffic Collision on the A4232 at 9am.

Waste, Recycling, Bulky & Commercial Collections

All collections were operating this morning but have now been cancelled due to unsafe working conditions. All recycling and waste collections are cancelled today and tomorrow. This includes bulky waste collections, and hygiene collections. All those that have appointments for bulky waste collections will be contacted by the council.

Cleansing Operations

All mechanical sweeping has been suspended due to the freezing conditions.

Three teams are now on pre-gritting duties concentrating on the outer shopping areas.

All other cleansing teams are operating as normal.

Waste Education & Enforcement

Education and enforcement services are not taking place today and staff are re-filling gritting bins.

 24/7 Control room

There have been two accidents on the A4232 - Bute Town Tunnel was closed briefly and a lane was closed by Leckwith viaduct.

Household Waste Recycling Centres

Wedal Road HWRC is closed due to the bad weather. Bessemer Close and Lamby Way HWRC remain open but the arrangements will be reviewed as the day progresses.

Schools

Parents are reminded to check for messages from their schools for the latest information regarding closures.

Planned events

The Lord Mayor's Parade has been cancelled. The St David's Day run on Sunday in Bute Park has been cancelled.

St David’s Hall has cancelled their concert this evening.  Totally Tina has been rescheduled to May 5th  

New Theatre’s performance is cancelled this evening.

Hubs across the city

All hubs are now closed.

Buildings providing services for social services and Children's services

The John Kane Centre (Youth Offending Service) is closed today and tomorrow calls are being diverted to a Duty Worker.

St Mellons (Fostering Service) will be closed today and tomorrow and calls diverted to duty worker.

Neville Street (Adolescent Recourse Centre) is closed today and tomorrow.

Hafan Gobaith (Looked After Children/Personal Advisor Service) is currently open but will be reviewed as the day progresses.

Ty Canna (Mental Health Outreach Services) is closed.

Day Services LD in Tremorfa closed today.

Day Services Older People: Day Centres are closed but lunchtime care packages being sourced.

Cardiff Story MuseumandCardiff Marketwill close at 2pm today.
