Providing products to ensure employees keep healthy and happy
Online
health educator, The Sound Doctor has found that over 60% of companies have put
something in place to look after their employee’s health and wellbeing, but just
under half of all companies have not done anything about it in the last 12
months.
This
primary research has confirmed the need for companies to do more to ensure the health
and happiness of their employees in the workplace.
Having
successfully established itself as a leading provider of bite-sized films and
short audio programmes that improve the quality of life for people with
long-term mental and physical health problems, to the National Health Service
(NHS), The Sound Doctor is for the first time, offering these much-needed products
to the private sector.
“If
keeping employees healthy and happy in the workplace is not a key priority for
all employers, then it should be,” said Rosie Runciman, Director and Co-founder
of the Sound Company.
“We have
recently conducted primary research which revealed that over 60% of corporates
have put procedures in place to look after their employees’ health and
wellbeing. But sadly, it also found that less than half have done absolutely
nothing to support employees suffering from long-term health issues within the
past year.”
Using The
Sound Doctors films and audio content, will help corporates to manage sickness
absence and successfully manage employees when they present with health issues.
Employees
will benefit from expert knowledge about their condition and recovery which in
turn will deliver better health outcomes, improved quality of life and
importantly, less time off work.
Rosie
believes that many employers are totally unaware that: one in three employees
has a long-term health condition; one in eight has a mental health condition; one
in ten has a musculoskeletal condition and 42% of all employed adults have some
kind of health condition that effects how they can carry out their work
activities.
“A stat
which all employers should think about is that 137 million days are lost each
year through employee absence. That equates to 4.3 days for every employee in
the UK and costs the nation a staggering £100 billion per annum,” said Runciman.
The Sound
Doctor’s substantial library of innovative and creative but structured,
bite-sized, engaging film and audio content drives engagement with employees enabling
them to understand and learn how to self-manage their long-term health
problems.
All of the
Sound Doctor’s creative, innovative film and audio material adheres to NICE
guidelines, is clinically reviewed every two years and is endorsed by leading
clinicians and charities.
“The quality of the product is, in my experience,
unmatched anywhere in the world,” said Dr Charles Alessi, Senior Advisor Public
Health England.
