Physio Plus launches groundbreaking baby massage classes

Physio Plus has launched its groundbreaking new baby massage classes.

The Chippenham-based centre of excellence for physiotherapy, acupuncture, massage and other treatments says massage is a wonderful way to deepen your bond with your baby.

Physio Plus offers on-to-one or group baby massage classes at its clinic. Alternatively, you can opt for home visits.

Ten minutes of gentle daily baby massage can provide many benefits for babies and their parents.

For your baby, it can help with bonding, stimulate digestion, boot immunity and promote restful sleep. Massage can also increase wellbeing, reduce crying and emotional distress, help develop coordination and body awareness and provide relief from wind, colic, constipation and teething discomfort.

It can help you feel closer to your baby and deepen your understanding of their behaviour and body language. It’s also an enjoyable opportunity to spend one-to-one time with your baby in a soothing, relaxing way. Research suggests that baby massage can also help with post-natal depression.

Andrew Baldwin, director and clinical lead orthopaedic physiotherapy specialist at Physio Plus, said: “Our baby massage classes provide parents with a life-long parenting skill. As well as helping you bond with your baby and build confidence as a parent, they’re also a great opportunity to meet and socialise with like-minded parents.”

Physio Plus baby massage classes are led by a VTVC Level 3 qualified therapist and comprise four one-hour sessions. These cover:

1.       Chest and tummy

2.       Legs and feet

3.       Head, arms and hands

Physio Plus works with health professionals, including general practitioners and orthopaedic consultants, to deliver a seamless care service. It’s proactive in rehabilitation and offers both passive and active treatment. The clinic is situated on Park Fields in the centre of Chippenham, close to Chippenham Station, the Hathaway Retail Park and main road network.
