Cricket legend Michael Vaughan joins Etape Suisse in Gstaad for second year running

Michael Vaughan OBE, captain of England’s 2005 Ashes winning team and ambassador for the Laureus Sports for Good Foundation, is once again taking part in Etape Suisse’s trip to Gstaad from Thursday 16 to Sunday 19 June 2016.

Combining cycling and networking, the trip offers Etape Suisse’s members and guests an inspiring weekend of cycling and networking in Gstaad.

Heading to the picturesque west side of Switzerland, attendees will ride in teams led by pro-cyclists and celebrities. They’ll enjoy 5 star luxury accommodation at the Gstaad Palace Hotel. Guests can take and test their own bikes to the limits before enjoying an exclusive charity gala dinner.

Devoting two whole days to exploring Gstaad on two wheels, the two routes are www.strava.com/routes/1145572%20RB13 and www.strava.com/routes/1469446. The ride day also includes scenic feed stations, sumptuous lunch, ride captains and mechanical support.

Speaking about the trip, Sara Tye, CEO of Etape Suisse, said: “We’re delighted that Michael Vaughan is coming back with us to Gstaad. Since becoming CEO of Etape Suisse the progress we’ve made has been spectacular and Michael’s return is testament to that. In fact, almost everyone who cycled with us last year is eager to join us again in 2016. This trip to Gstaad is particularly capturing the imagination of our returning and new guests. It is iconic for its magnificent beauty, the rolling hills and smooth roads make for exhilarating cycling. This event promises to be bigger and better than ever.”

Vaughan, who represented Yorkshire and England cricket teams, was ranked one of the world’s best batsmen following the 2002/03 Ashes, in which he scored 633 runs, including three centuries. During the One Day International Series in 2013, he cycled 462 miles.

Robert Simpson founded Etape Suisse in 2013 in response to growing mediocrity in the UK sportive scene. The company spotted a niche for luxury cycling events in which riders of all levels and their friends and families can enjoy challenging rides in inspiring surroundings. Packages include fine dining and luxury accommodation in high quality hotels.

Membership of Etape Suisse gives keen cyclists and their friends and families the chance to enjoy inspirational luxury cycling events in the UK and Switzerland. Members and their guests enjoy discounted entry. Members can also enter Etape Suisse UK cycling events for free and receive nutrition and training advice.
