[image]Héloïse has always known that her bastard status threatens her standing in the French village of Lucie-sur-Vionne. But her midwifery and healing skills have gained the respect of many, and she has won the heart of the handsome Raoul Stonemason. In the year 1348 life for Héloïse seems hopeful, until the Black Death sweeps into France. Fearful that Héloïse will bring the pestilence into their cottage, Raoul forbids her to treat its victims. Amidst the grief and hysteria, the villagers search for a scapegoat and force Héloïse to choose between preserving her marriage and honouring the oath she swore on her dead mother's soul. Even as she places her faith in the protective powers of her angel talisman, she must prove she's no Devil's servant, and her talisman no evil charm.

About the Author

[image]Liza was born in Tasmania but grew up in Wollongong, Australia, where she worked as a general nurse and midwife for 15 years. When she met her French husband on a Bangkok bus she moved to France, where she has been living with her family for over 20 years. She works part-time as a French-English medical translator for a company in Lyon, and as a novelist. Since completing a creative writing course several of her short stories have won awards, notably the Writers Bureau annual competition of 2004. Her writing has also been published widely in anthologies and small press magazines.

Blood Rose Angel is the third in her French Historical trilogy: The Bone Angel Series (preceded by Spirit of Lost Angels and Wolfsangel). She is a founding member of indie author-publishing collective Triskele Books and a book reviewer for BookMuse.

Media Opportunities

Liza's career as a midwife, her life in rural France and passion for French history research - particularly the Black Plague and the Second World War - have combined to shape The Bone Angel Series. However, Liza is also regularly asked to discuss the challenges of women in 19thand 20thcentury French history, the complexities of rural French life as a ‘foreigner' and her position in the indie publishing sector, as part of the innovative and creative author collective Triskele Books. Liza is available for comment, editorial commission and interview across all of these subjects, and more, is open to discussions directly with the readers via book clubs and literary events.

[I am] impressed with Perrat's knowledgeable treatment of the role of women during one of France's most tumultuous times, as well as the complexities of insular village life- Darlene Williams (Darlene Elizabeth Williams Historical Fiction Reviews).
