Glenturret New Range of Malts Unveiled to Mark 240 Years

Marking 240 years of distilling on the same site in Crieff, Glenturret Distillery has tonight unveiled a new range of single malts reinforcing the brand’s unique heritage as Scotland’s only remaining producer of hand mashed whisky.

The distinctive new range reveals a bold return to the marketplace for the niche premium malt, traditionally used as a key ingredient in The Famous Grouse blend. In recent months The Glenturret has re-established itself as a highly collectible whisky releasing specialist bottlings including their 1986 Commonwealth Games Edition, which made its way into Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible, and the more recent Brock Malloy, which sold out internationally within weeks.

The new core range showcases Glenturret’s unrivalled agility in small batch whisky production which enables the distillers to create different taste expressions, offering consumers a clear choice between a Sherry, Triple Wood or Peated malt.

Stuart Cassells, the driving force behind Glenturret Distillery’s return to the limelight commented:

“The Glenturret single malt is a hidden gem in the whisky world, a genuinely handmade malt crafted with passion and care. Our new core range draws on the very best of our traditional, artisan production methods but focusses on profiling the taste of the malt, not simply its age.

“A traditional Scottish product, The Glenturret only require five pairs of hands to produce it and these exceptional malts are a testimony to the range of traditional distilling skills that Glenturret has worked hard to preserve.”

Currently available online, from the distillery shop and in a selection of independent outlets, bottles retail at £45 each.

The Glenturret Sherry Edition

The Sherry Edition has been matured in both Spanish and American oak sherry seasoned casks, delivering a sweet spiciness with a soft oak background.  Homemade syrup sponge meets the nose with a sweetness and warmth that invites you in. The Glenturret Peated Edition

The Peated Edition delivers a heavy smokiness through the use of malted barley dried over peat fires, a taste akin to the whisky produced when the distillery first got its license in 1775.
