£2.75 million Sutton Coldfield home is a treasure trove of history
Ashbrook House located in the sought after location of Sutton Coldfield is a residence that's steeped in history and charm. The remarkable 6-bedroom mansion was commissioned in 1909 by Charles Henry Brampton and is now one of the most coveted homes on the Four Oaks Estate. Brampton was heir to the famous Brampton bicycle manufacturing dynasty and it's believed that Ashbrook house was constructed as a celebration of his towering achievements in commerce, politics and charity.
Over a century later the house still retains many of its exquisite original features and has been sympathetically extended by the current owners to accommodate a more contemporary lifestyle. The extension houses a state of the art leisure complex, complete with Hydropool/Aquatrainer, steam room and gymnasium as well as a self-contained guest suite.
Despite the current owners considerable works to the building they have been incredibly meticulous in
preserving the very best original features of the property. All of the building's pristine plasterwork is original and those very few beautiful Crittall windows that are not original have been replicated to the most exacting of standards. All additional architraves and joinery have been carried out to the precise specifications of the Arts and Crafts movement. Even the glass in the new wing was specifically distorted by hand to exactly match the century-old existing equivalent throughout the rest of the building.
This is one period home that was built to last.
This historical home consists of a reception hall, drawing room, dining room with wine cellar below, sun room, study with bespoke fitted furniture, fitted kitchen/breakfast room, orangery, utility, cloakroom, leisure complex with Hydropool/Aquatrainer pool, shower/steam room and boot room.
To the first floor there are five stunning bedrooms, two with en-suite bathrooms, a dressing room, family bathroom, shower room and mezzanine gymnasium overlooking the pool.
Up again on the second floor there's a large study with bespoke furniture, which leads on to the sixth bedroom, which is complimented, by a luxurious en-suite bathroom.
The gardens of Ashbrook house are as extravagant as the building itself having had a considerable revamp by the current vendors. The perfectly manicured lawns, uniform lines of Yew Trees and tranquil water feature makes it the perfect location for a spot of rest and relaxation.
Ashbrook House really is the perfect home for the discerning buyer and there is truly very little to rival it as a prime example of authenticity existing comfortably within the luxurious modern world.

Four Oaks Estate in Sutton Coldfield was once part of a large forest, which encompassed the adjoiningSutton Park- one of the largest urban parks in Europe. The original estate was laid out in the 1890s when the Marquis of Clanrikard bought the Four Oaks Park. The now sought after area was then developed as a private housing estate, which is now renowned for its tree-lined avenues and as one of the most prestigious residential locations in the region.
