PRESS RELEASE

From: Robinson Reed Layton

FOR IMMEDIATE USE
Are you ready for Auto Enrolment?
This September SMEs across Cornwall will have a unique opportunity to benefit from the insight of three specialist organisations at an Auto Enrolment Seminar.
The seminar at The Alverton, in Truro, on the morning of 11thSeptember is being hosted by Robinson Reed Layton, the Truro-based Chartered Accountants and Chartered Tax Advisers, The Pensions Regulator and Watson French, Chartered Independent Financial Planners.
Spaces are filling up fast so owners and managers of SMEs are being encouraged to sign up as soon as possible in order to attend and benefit from the expertise on hand.
The latest employer survey undertaken by The Pensions Regulator highlights that the majority of employers due to start operating the scheme ("to stage") between now and November 2015 have started preparing and are aware of their staging date. However, employers due to stage in 2016, are not so aware of their upcoming obligations.
Stephen Gainey, Partner at Robinson Reed Layton said:
"We are very pleased to welcome The Pensions Regulator to Truro. As small businesses are the backbone of the Cornish economy, it is vital they are prepared for their Auto Enrolment staging date. The Workplace Pension reforms will impact on every business, employer and employee across Cornwall and we want to ensure businesses are aware of and understand the implications of the new Auto Enrolment Rules as well as the effect they will have.
"Although Pensions may not be exciting, they are extremely important. We are therefore pleased to work with Watson French and The Pensions Regulator to raise awareness across the businesses community.
"The obligation to contribute to all employees' pensions will impose significant additional costs on all businesses, and many small Cornish businesses will struggle to meet the costs. At Robinson Reed Layton we are dedicated to supporting Cornish businesses, and we are delighted we can offer them our support and advice at our seminar."
During the seminar The Pensions Regulator will provide a step by step guide for employers highlighting what they need to do and when, how to communicate with their workers, the automatic enrolment processes, and other relevant information.
Watson French who have helped many employers with their auto enrolment duties and are considered specialist auto enrolment advisers, will be show casing their online system ‘My Auto Enrolment' at the event.
Stephen Watson, Founder and Managing Director of Watson French and My Auto Enrolment, explained: "My talk ‘Auto Enrolment - embracing the elephant in the room' will address potential pitfalls about the process that businesses should be aware of, enabling them to face auto enrolment with confidence. Similarly, to support the roll-out of auto enrolment to all businesses by 2018 we have developed an online system ‘My Auto Enrolment' that guides employers through the process step by step, offering a mirror of our face to face independent advice but more affordable for smaller businesses.
"We are delighted to team up with Robinson Reed Layton to highlight this subject and provide clients with information and advice."
The pension reforms began in 2012, firstly with the UK's largest employers who were required to provide a specific type of pension scheme, and to enrol their employees. By 2018 all employers are required to set up and enrol all eligible employees onto a pension scheme, with employees also having the choice to opt out after they have been enrolled.
The seminar aims to address the key points of the new auto enrolment scheme whilst providing advice to those who may be affected. For more information or to book your place on to the seminar please visit http://www.rrlcornwall.co.uk/events or call Amy on 01872 276116.
