Swashbuckling fun for all as Garden Centre relaunch celebrations continue

The relaunched Tong Garden Centre is holding a Pirate Day as part of its ongoing celebrations.

On the 29thAugust, the beach at The Grass Hoppers Adventure Playground will be the venue for a day of swashbuckling fun that will include stilt-walking pirates, balloon modelling, face painting and pirate tricks.

Tong Garden Centre co-owner Mark Farnsworth is looking forward to donning an eye patch and joining in the fun: "The beach party with pirates is a great way to kick off the Bank Holiday weekend and promises to be a great day out for all the family."

Entry to Grass Hoppers costs £2.50 per child and all of the pirate activities are free. 25p from the entry cost is being donated to Martin House Children's Hospice for the duration of the summer holidays.

Tong Garden Centre was acquired by Mark Farnsworth and Tom Megginson earlier this year and the Adventure Playground is just one of the new additions and improvements that have been made to the 30 year old business.

Tong Garden Centre occupies a 17 acre site in Tong village. It is Yorkshire's biggest independent garden centre with 110,000 square feet of retail space and parking for up to 1,000 cars.

  1. Tong Garden Centre had been in the same family for over 30 years before its acquisition in May, 2015.  It burnt down around 15 years ago and had a major rebuild into the current format.
