The UK's largest health foods wholesaler has expanded its fleet of forklift trucks after signing a new deal with leading materials handling solutions provider, Briggs Equipment.
Based in Newcastle Under Lyme, Tree of Life supplies around 1,200 independent health food stores in the UK and needed to increase handling capacity at its 85,000sqft warehouse following new contracts with some major retailers.
To meet the increased demand and as the company continues to diversify, Tree of Life has expanded its fleet of Yale forklifts, reach trucks, high level order pickers and power pallet trucks whilst building on its long-standing relationship with Briggs Equipment.
Steve Sloane, Account Manager at Briggs Equipment explained: "Tree of Life has relied on Yale trucks for more than a decade and Briggs Equipment has worked with them for the past four years.
"We are delighted this relationship looks set to strengthen with the growth of their fleet from 19 to 28 trucks."
Among the latest additions to the fleet are eight used power pallet trucks and a new Robur pedestrian counterbalance truck. The existing four-wheel trucks have now been replaced by three wheel electric counterbalance trucks to ensure the Tree of Life manage the increased volume effectively.
"In advance of securing this latest deal, and as part of a thorough tender process, we worked closely with the company to assess its current and future requirements and came up with a flexible, cost effective solution that included both new and used equipment," Steve said.
"To win the contract we also worked hard to convince the company of our commitment to continuous improvement and focused on our aftersales support, including the introduction of robust servicing and repair arrangements."
Thanks to Briggs Equipment's commitment to regular communication, ‘next day' rectification of any service problems and the scheduling of regular maintenance meetings, Tree of Life is now in a position to take advantage of other business opportunities. These include the growth of online sales and interest from other major retailers.
Tom Millington, Health, Safety & Facilities Manager at Tree of Life commented: "I have worked with Yale equipment for the past ten years and it is excellent quality, built for ever increasing business demands.
"We have seen some great growth in our industry and this shows in the relationship we have with Briggs Equipment. The service is always fast and efficient, whether we require an engineer on site, or want to hold a meeting with our account manager. I am pleased we are going into our eleventh year with a truly dedicated and professional supplier."
