Nutrient neutrality champions get back to bio basics
National Rivers Consortium and Norfolk Rivers Consortium partner with eco-cleaning product manufacturer Bio-D to promote nutrient neutrality.
In what is believed to be a UK first, a nutrient mitigation company is putting its money where its mouth is and giving owners of its new and free septic tank upgrades three months' worth of eco-friendly cleaning products.
The UK's National Rivers Consortium, and sister company Norfolk Rivers Consortium, have launched an exciting partnership with Bio-D, a leading UK manufacturer of eco-friendly cleaning products.
As part of the link-up, the consortiums will provide the home-owning recipients of their free septic tank upgrades with a three-month supply of Bio-D's proven cleaning products which are created using sustainable ingredients, are cruelty-free, and come in recyclable packaging, making them safe for both households and the environment.
This initiative not only promotes cleaner waterways but also encourages environmentally conscious choices in household cleaning.
By partnering with Bio-D, the National and Norfolk River Consortiums are emphasising the importance of reducing the harmful chemicals found in traditional household cleaning products that can contribute to water pollution. Bio-D's range of naturally derived and biodegradable cleaning products aligns perfectly with the consortiums' mission to create healthier eco-systems.
The National and Norfolk Rivers Consortiums are pioneering organisations dedicated to creating best in class phosphorus and nitrogen credits for nutrient neutrality mitigation so this collaboration aims to take their support of sustainable lifestyles while addressing critical environmental concerns to the next level.
The National Rivers Consortium is committed to tackling the issue of nutrient pollution in rivers and waterways caused by excess phosphorus and nitrogen, often exacerbated by outdated, inefficient and ineffective septic systems.
Their innovative programme has seen nearly 200 free septic tank upgrades installed over the past 12 months, elevating domestic septic tanks to highly-efficient Graf UK One2Clean package treatment plants. This ensures homes comply with the General Binding Rules and nutrient neutrality requirements while protecting the natural environment.
Eligible households receiving a free septic tank upgrade from the National and the Norfolk Rivers Consortiums will be gifted a three-month supply of Bio-D cleaning products. Based on a four-person average household, this will include Bio-D laundry liquid, fabric conditioner, plastic-free laundry and stain-remover bar, all-purpose sanitiser, floor cleaner, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets and rinse aid, handwash, bathroom cleaner and toilet cleaner.
The partnership ensures that households not only benefit from improved wastewater treatment systems but also adopt eco-conscious cleaning habits that minimise their environmental impact.
National Rivers Consortium managing director Rodger Harrison (pictured) said: "At National Rivers Consortium, we are dedicated to reducing nutrient pollution and protecting our waterways for future generations. Bio-D's commitment to sustainability complements our mission perfectly. By gifting these eco-friendly products to homeowners, we're empowering them to make environmentally responsible choices, starting right in their homes."
Bio-D managing director Lloyd Aitkin added: "Our collaboration with National Rivers Consortium is testament to how businesses can work together to create meaningful change. Bio-D has always championed sustainable living, and we're thrilled to see our products play a role in promoting cleaner waterways and more sustainable lifestyles."
