Blackweir Fields has reopened to the general public following the recent Blackweir Live concerts.
Some work to remove fencing is still in progress, however the entire site is expected to be clear by the end of today - July 18th.
The protective measures put in place during the Blackweir Live events have worked well and the grass, including the cricket pitches, is generally in very good condition.
Now that the area has reopened to the public, work will begin to reseed any small patches of worn grass and restore any compacted areas of soil, if necessary. As part of the bond agreement put in place ahead of the events, these costs will be covered by the event operator.
Subject to
weather conditions, the grass should be back to its pre-concert condition
within the next few weeks.
