Strong leadership in logistics isn’t just about directing operations — it’s
about inspiring change, shaping culture, and creating clarity in complexity.
Across his four decades in the industry, Marcos Clowes FCILT has seen how
effective leadership doesn’t come from telling people what to do, but from
equipping them to do it better — with confidence and purpose.
Clowes, who was recently admitted as a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of
Carmen — one of the UK’s oldest honours in transport — is using this recognition
to spotlight an issue close to his heart: building the next generation of
leadership in logistics.
“Some of the most meaningful change I’ve seen hasn’t come from a new system or
process — it’s come from a shift in how people lead,” said Clowes. “When
leaders are supported to evolve, whole organisations follow.”
Having worked with companies including Tesco, Oriflame and THG, Clowes says the
future of logistics relies not just on smart strategy and digital systems, but
on leadership that can adapt, guide and empower others.
“Leadership is contagious. If we want a smarter logistics sector, we need to
model what that looks like — from the warehouse floor to the boardroom.”
Clowes is now opening up new opportunities to mentor rising talent and
collaborate with organisations who want to strengthen their internal leadership
and succession strategies.
“If your organisation is committed to shaping the future of logistics — whether
through mentoring, collaboration, or strengthening leadership from within — I’d
welcome the opportunity to connect. Let’s lead the future of logistics
together.”
