An Aberdeenshire-based timber manufacturing and building solutions company is growing its client base and reputation for delivering on sustainability as well as customer satisfaction, employing a selection of high-performance panel products from the range ofWest Fraser.

Brudon Joinerywas established in 2013 with workshops and offices located at Lumphanan, close to the Granite City itself, and has some 50 employees covering all the construction trades.

Significantly, by blending traditional bench joinery skills with the use of contemporary CNC technology and a proactive management set up,the companycan offer a full spectrum of services from the production of bespoke furniture and fitted kitchens, through the delivery of large-scale building projects to full turnkey developments. Onsite, the company'sNHBC and Federation of Master Builders accreditations ensure that the building solutions delivered are in the hands of experts with the broadest possible knowledge in all building services from complete properties to extensions and renovations: meaning they not only meet client expectations but exceed them.

The Procurement Manager for Brudon Joinery, Mike Rowson, comments: "Almost all our work is in the North-east, working for individual self-builders as well as a few regional builders and multi-unit developers who we supply with bespoke, high-performance kits manufactured by our Brudon Timberframe business.  Our expertise in off-site or Modern Methods of Construction ensures our timber frame packages are well taken care of from design through to completion. Importantly,we can offer the complete build service from the groundworks - with the services and casting the ground floor slab - right up the full install with brickwork, the roof covering and internal joinery.  We even landscape the gardens if required. We use a lot of theCaberDekandSterlingOSB Zeroso we always take full loads as just-in-time deliveries through International Timber in Grangemouth, to manage our stock control.  Brudon has used a majority of West Fraser product over the years, while I have extensive experience of the range from my previous roles.  Now since I joined the company just over a year ago, we have moved to using the manufacturer exclusively for our board products: showing the benefits of increased volumes - and you can see these feeding through into customer care and satisfaction.

While the ground floors are normally concrete, we tend to useCaberDekfor the first floor install with its ‘peel-clean' membrane as it leaves a good fresh floor surface once all the trades have finished.  The OSB3 we use primarily for the walls as well as for sarking boards across the roof trusses, and in the floor cassettes.  Then we will go to the manufacturer's P5 chipboard, laid with the glue across the joists, if the client's budget can't stretch to CaberDek.  Right across the range, though, we can say that the boards' quality and dimensional accuracy - along with the tongue and groove joint - are absolutely faultless which means we have no problems with the install."

Referring to the strong environmental credentials of West Fraser's panel products, Mike added: "It is normal, at tender stage, for our clients to be emphasising the need for the use of sustainable products across our supply chain - it is an essential part of the agreement or partnership between Brudon and our customers.  We know that West Fraser delivers on that."

Offering a perspective on the relationship with Brudon Joinery, West Fraser's Business Development Manager for Scotland and Northern Ireland, Andy Byer, added: "I had the pleasure of visiting Brudon recently and it was clear that the care Mike and the team put into each project's finer details is a sight to behold; and is evident when viewing their final product.  This pedigree of workmanship is a perfect match for our industry leadingSterlingOSB ZeroandCaberDek. To operate at this level consistently, they need a product that offers repeatable quality and on-time deliveries they can rely on through varying market conditions - every time. The fact Brudon exclusively requests our product is about as big a compliment we as a manufacturer can receive."

All West Fraser panel products produced in the UK arenet carbon negativeand manufactured in mills that have obtained the coveted environmental ISO 14001 accreditation.  Responsibly sourced, the panels are FSC® certified (C012533) and created from locally grown timber, cutting embodied carbon from transportation.
