NEW CEO FOR BOWEL CANCER WEST

Bowel Cancer West, a charity that provides support and awareness around bowel cancer across the South West, is pleased to announce the appointment of Caroline Bramwell, from Ilfracombe, as its new CEO. Caroline picks up the reigns from Interim CEO, Diane Sheppard.

Said Diane: "Caroline has been marketing advisor to the charity for the last 15 months and has contributed to the direction and awareness of the charity. As someone who has suffered bowel conditions herself with Ulcerative Colitis, Caroline has a permanent stoma and is already well connected and an advocate in this arena. Her personal experience brings empathy and understanding to those that the charity supports. The Board of Trustees unanimously agreed that it is important she takes this role forward."

Commenting on her new appointment, Caroline said: "I'm delighted to be playing such an important part in Bowel Cancer West and excited at the prospect of growing the charity's support services and funding for research. Living in a more rural part of the UK where people ‘just get on' with life, it's important that we help people to recognise the symptoms of bowel cancer early, when it is more likely to be successfully treated."

She continued: "Small charities are often overlooked when there are big charitable organisations out there, so I'm determined to make sure the name of Bowel Cancer West is recognised and supported."

Bowel Cancer West is a UK registered charity, working tirelessly to improve the survival rates of people in the South West diagnosed with the condition, and raising awareness of bowel cancer and its symptoms, the importance of early diagnosis and what you can do to reduce your risk. Founded by consultant Surgeon Prof Mark Colemen, at Derriford Hospital, Plymouth, and dairy and sheep farmer, David Darke, who sadly passed away in 2024, the charity offers regional support to those in need.
