Capleoffers a comprehensive range of induction hobs but is the retailer making use of the features available? Here Luke Shipway, Head of Product Design for Caple explains some of the many features that are often overlooked.

What are the key benefits of induction hobs?

There are some induction hob features that retailers may not be talking about but which could lead to increased sales. One such feature is the concept of bridgeable zones. This allows users to combine two smaller zones on the hob to create a larger zone. This feature enables users to prepare larger meals or cook multiple dishes simultaneously.

Another feature that is often overlooked is the pan move function which allows users to move a pan from one zone to another on the hob, while automatically picking up the selected settings from the previous zone. This means that if you are cooking something on high heat and need to move it to a different zone for finishing or keeping warm, the pan move function takes care of adjusting the power level and timer accordingly.

Lastly, the chef mode is a feature that offers great versatility in cooking. It creates three large zones on the hob, allowing users to cook with multiple pans at various temperatures at the same time. This means that you can fry something with intense heat and then slide the pan over to a low-temperature zone to keep it warm while you continue cooking other dishes.

What are the latest high-tech features on offer?

The most popular type of function on an induction hob is the booster function which is designed to speed up the cooking time by allowing users to reach the maximum cooking temperature more quickly. It is particularly useful when preparing meals that require high heat, such as boiling or searing. By activating the booster function, the induction hob can rapidly heat up the cookware, reducing the overall cooking time. This function is highly sought after by home cooks and professional chefs alike, as it allows for efficient and fast cooking without compromising on the quality of the food being prepared.

How can designers easily incorporate induction hobs into a kitchen layout?

When it comes to designing a kitchen, it's essential to give much thought to lighting and electrics. After all, these features can make or break the functionality and aesthetic appeal of the space. As such, it's a good idea to consider appliances early in the process, to ensure that everything is properly integrated. Induction hobs are very popular these days and usually require a separate ring main to be installed. When considering your kitchen's layout, an island with a hob can add practicality and style, but it's important to consider extraction. A built-in induction downdraft can provide a modern look while efficiently removing cooking odours.
