Yorkshire garden centre group donates Christmas trees to West Yorkshire causes

The teams at a Bradford headquartered garden centre group have donated Christmas trees to community causes in areas around their centres.

Yorkshire Garden Centresdonated 10 real and artificial trees to causes serving the communities around their sites at Tong, Tingley, Otley, Batley, York and Scarborough.

One of the beneficiaries was the Women's and Newborn Unit within the Maternity department of Bradford Royal Infirmary following a request made at Tong Garden Centre in Bradford. Lisa Williams, Head of Fundraising for Bradford Hospital Charity, was delighted with the gifted tree: "We would like to create a warm and festive environment to spread some Christmas cheer for our patients, visitors, and dedicated staff who are in the hospital during this special time of the year. Your generous donation will play a vital role in bringing smiles and comfort to those who need it most during the Christmas break. Your support is immensely appreciated, and it will go a long way in making this festive period a brighter and more joyful experience for everyone in our unit."

"Every year, we get lots of requests from charities and community groups for things to make Christmas magical and we're very happy to be able to make a difference by donating a Christmas tree to 10 of the most deserving causes," said Paul Adams, manager of Tong Garden Centre.

Other beneficiaries include Kirkwood Hospice, Hill Top Primary School and Eden Court Care Home.

Tong Garden Centre occupies a 19-acre site in Tong village. It is one of Yorkshire's biggest independent garden centres with 11,600m²of retail space and parking for up to 700 cars. It is part of the Yorkshire Garden Centres (YGC) group that also owns Tingley, Otley and Bingley Garden Centres plus Dean's York and Scarborough.
