Yorkshire garden centre group donates Christmas trees to good causes

The teams at a Bradford headquartered garden centre group have donated Christmas trees to community causes in areas around their centres.

Yorkshire Garden Centresdonated 10 real and artificial trees to causes serving the communities around their sites at Tong, Tingley, Otley, Batley, York and Scarborough.

One of the beneficiaries was Haxby Hall Care Home in York, following a request made at Dean's Garden Centre in York. Area Manager at the home, Emma Littlewood, was delighted with the gifted tree: "Haxby Hall is a new Care Home for Elderly Residents. We have 34 people living with us, and this could possibly be their last Christmas due to physical and mental health conditions. We want to ensure that our home is the most magical place for all residents, families and staff, so this tree will play a huge part in this."

"Every year, we get lots of requests from charities and community groups for things to make Christmas magical and we're very happy to be able to make a difference by donating a Christmas tree to 10 of the most deserving causes," said Paul Adams, manager of Tong Garden Centre.

Other beneficiaries include New Earswick Primary School, the Women's and Newborn Unit at Bradford Royal Infirmary and Kirkwood Hospice.

Dean's Garden Centre was acquired by Yorkshire Garden Centres earlier this year. It was founded by the Dean family in 1968 and occupies a four-acre site in Stockton on the Forest that is home to an extensive range of plants, gardening and leisure goods and the popular Bothy restaurant.The Group'sstrategy is to operate destination garden centres with a compelling mix of retail, food and play for all the family.
