Pickering farm shop and café shortlisted for family business award
The team at a North Yorkshire farm shop and café are celebrating after their farm shop and café reached the final of the Yorkshire and Humber Family Business Awards 2024.
Pickering's Cedarbarn Farm Shop, Café and Miniature Railway have been shortlisted in theFood and Drink Establishments category of the annualawards that champion family businesses across Yorkshire and Humberside.
Cedarbarn co-founder, Mandy Avison said: "Yorkshire is home to so many fabulous family businesses, and we're grateful to Sue and Dave from The Family Business Community for hosting these awards thatrecognise the achievements and celebrate the successes of local family businesses."
Co-founder and Director of The Family Business Community, Sue Howorth, commented: "The quality of this year's entries made the judges' decisions extremely challenging. The finalists should be incredibly proud of their achievements. We're looking forward to celebrating with all the family businesses in our region."
Dave Clarkson, co-director, added: "We are thrilled by the level of commitment and attention to detail shown by all the applicants. The strength and diversity of the entries have truly impressed us."
Joel Topham from AAB in Leeds, who hosted the Judging Day, also shared his thoughts: "The calibre of applications has been outstanding, and it's clear that family businesses in our region are both proud and forward-thinking. Many of the entries showcased innovation and a progressive mindset."
Cedarbarn Farm Shop and Café faces competition from Elsworth at the Mill, Grassington House, Millers Fish & Chips, Rudding Park, The Balloon Tree Farmshop & Café and
Highfield House. The teamwill learn whether they have been successful at an awards ceremony hosted by food and drink broadcaster, Nigel Barden, at the Royal Armouries Hall in Leeds on 22nd November.
Cedarbarn Farm Shop and Café began as a small PYO strawberries operation from acaravan 26 years ago andnow is a thriving farm shop and café that sources a large percentage of its produce from its own farm and a neighbouring farm supplemented with local suppliers.
