"Chris Coggins of MicroGraphix knows how to get a look and works fast. He is also a master of post-production so we got great images that were exactly as we first envisaged them."

The combination of MicroGraphix's spacious purpose-built studios in Oxfordshire and an experienced, technical photographic project team resulted in an impressive portfolio of creative images for Norbord, one of the world's largest manufacturers of engineered wood-based panels.

One of only a few drive-in studios capable of such a substantial project, MicroGraphix was selected by design agency, Shared Experience, to bring to life various authentic building scenarios. Norbord's brands are among the best known in the construction, furniture and DIY industries and a new marketing campaign demanded exciting, clever imagery to illustrate exactly how and where the products can be used.

Chris Coggins of MicroGraphix explains "We took the project from the initial storyboard sketches right through to the final resultant images - and everything the journey entailed. The work included following a storyboard, building eight sets including scaffolding and flexible walls and floors, models, styling, direction, post-production and all sorts of other challenges along the way to produce 85 images over a five-day period.

Mike Reynolds from Shared Experience added, "We live in a small world and I keep in touch with friends in the business. When I needed someone who could shoot the concept we had using clean black backgrounds, strong lighting with very accurate depictions of the products in use, Chris at Micrographix was recommended. After an initial chat on the phone, it was obvious that he "got" the idea. He also has considerable experience of shooting industrial type products.

"Chris knows how to get a look and works fast. He is also a master of post-production so we got great images that were exactly as we first envisaged them."

Micrographix specialises in creative digital photography including set building Green Screen, 360 degree spins and Comping.

The modern facilities incorporate large-scale infinity coves, an adjustable floating ceiling, underfloor heating and turntable equipment. In addition, Micrographix has invested in the latest state-of-the-art digital photographic equipment to give the client the benefits of instant proofing, reduced material costs and high speed turnaround.

The larger of two purpose-built studios, the 2,000 sq ft drive-in photographic studio incorporates a 38 ft wide infinity cove and accommodates large-scale photography while the smaller second studio allows for simultaneous table top product shoots.
