Loudounhill loves Sunward

Sunward machines join the plant fleet at Loudounhill Contracts.

Scottish civil engineering company and quarry operators Loudounhill Contracts has added Sunward to its portfolio of plant machinery.

The Newmilns, Ayrshire-based business, which specialises in groundworks and hard landscaping for housebuilders in the region, has acquired twoSunward SWE 155F medium excavators and a Sunward SWE 25F mini-excavatorfrom local Sunward dealer Kattrak.

Established in 1986, Loudounhill has more than 35 years of experience in the construction industry, working on housebuilding and commercial construction projects of all sizes across central Scotland. It played a part in Mactaggart and Mickel's award-winning Greenan Views development in Doonfoot.

The company also opened its own quarry - Thirstone Quarry in Crawfordjohn, Biggar, in 2008 - to supply high-quality aggregates to customers in Ayrshire, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Lanarkshire.

Sunward's top-of-the-line SWE 155F 15.6-tonne excavators are a versatile fit for large construction, be it buildings, roads, quarrying, demolition or forestry, while the 2.6-tonne SWE 25F mini can be safely transported on a small trailer with up to three buckets and a hydraulic breaker.

Loudounhill quarry manager Robert Craig had contacted Kattrak looking for new machines for their fleet, and the dealer suggested they try Sunward. They have not looked back.

Robert said: "We select our fleet based on price and warranty and Sunward was the best deal around. Our operators are delighted with the machines. They find them easy to operate and are very happy with the build quality."

Kattrak director Craig McLaughlin said: "A special thanks go to the MD Gavin Craig [Robert's father] and Robert for firstly being a pleasure to deal with, and for investing in three Sunwards at once. Their operators on-site, Adam and Dougie, are very pleased with their new machines. We hope this is the start of a long relationship between Kattrak and Sunward machines in Loudounhill Contracts' fleet."

Note to editors:

With more than 400 engineers working in R&D, the Sunward group has a peerless technical DNA. One of its early successes was developing an electric excavator in the early 2000s, making it one of the pioneers in this field.

A network of more than 150 dealers now covers all of Europe, including 15 in the UK and Ireland. To support this growth, Sunward Europe has invested in new premises in Tessenderlo, Belgium, from where it provides technical and logistical support for this dealer network, with more than 95% availability of spare parts.

As well as spare part storage, the 25,000m2site has a large stock of machines, a demonstration area, a technical training centre, and a vast workshop for customising machines to meet the needs of the individual European markets.
