Hill Engineering appoints a new head of operations

Mark Leathem joins Hill Engineering as their new head of operations.

Award-winning plant machinery attachments manufacturer Hill Engineering has appointed a new Head of Operations.

Mark Leathem has joined the County Down-based company with 14 years' experience in engineering, most recently with Kingspan Water and Energy where he was operations manager. His role at Hill will oversee a range of responsibilities, from procurement, engineering and end-to-end manufacturing, to quality, after-sales, shipping and logistics.

It was also 14 years ago that Hill pioneered its award-winning double-locking Tefra hydraulic quick hitch/coupler, which has now been complemented by the Tefra Tilt, a tilting coupler with 180° rotation. The company is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2024, with a diversification into Titan excavator buckets.

Mark, who has a Bs (Hons) Degree in Biomedical Engineering and is Lean six sigma certified, brings particular expertise in lean manufacturing, continuous improvement and quality, as well as customer service to Hill, which manufactures from a 100,000ft2 purpose-built facility in Newry.

Mark said: "I am delighted to be joining Hill and will relish the challenge to bring all these responsibilities to bear even more fruit for such an innovative and well-regarded brand."
