Pickering farm shop to host Easter event for Macmillan Cancer Support

 

A Pickering Farm Shop is to host an Easter event to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

 

Cedarbarn Farm Shop and Café's co-founder, Karl Avison, 60, is competing in the charity horse race, The Ride of Their Lives, at York Racecourse on 15thJune and aims to raise £25,000.

 

On Saturday, 30th March, Mr Avison and the Cedarbarn team will host an Easter egg hunt and charity train rides on the miniature railway at the Thornton Road venue in Pickering.

 

"We've got a new train, The James Cook, for the 2024 season, so fingers crossed the weather will be kind and we'll have a good, family-friendly day and a great Easter egg hunt that is kindly being sponsored by neighbouring business, High Oaks Grange," said Mr Avison.

 

The Easter egg hunt is suitable for children under seven and costs £3 per child and the train ride costs £2.50 and is suitable for both adults and children.

 

The 600m miniature railway track passes fruit fields, an orchard and farmland and helps to connect children with where their food comes from.

Cedarbarn Farm Shop and Café began as a small PYO strawberries operation from acaravan 27 years ago andnow is a thriving farm shop and café.

 

High Oaks Grange is located next door to the Cedarbarn Farm Shop and Café and is a collection of luxury cottages, lodges and glamping pods set within 60 acres of beautiful Yorkshire countryside in the North York Moors National Park.

 

York Racecourse and Macmillan Cancer Support continue to work in partnership to present the biggest charity race day in the UK and raise vital funds for people living with cancer.
