Pickering farmer to host Race Night for Macmillan Cancer Support
A Marishes farmer and business owner is to host a charity Race Night as part of his bid to raise £25,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Cedarbarn Farm Shop and Café co-founder, Karl Avison, 60, will make history when he becomes the first person to compete in the Ride of Their Lives for a second time when he takes part in the Macmillan Charity Raceday at York Racecourse on 15thJune.
On Friday, 8th March, Mr Avison and the Cedarbarn team will host a Race Night with home-reared Aberdeen Angus steak pie supper at the Thornton Road venue in Pickering.
The event, sponsored by Malton-basedestate and land agentsCundalls, will feature eight races that are projected onto a screen, and guests are encouraged to choose the winning horses.
"We hosted a Race Night fundraiser when I competed in the Ride Of Their Lives in 2019 and it was great fun. We're looking forward to a lively evening with great food. Thanks to our headline sponsor, Cundalls, and to the local companies who have sponsored races, for their generous contribution to the event," said Mr Avison.
Tickets for the Race Night cost £15 and include a pie, chip and pea supper. They are available to buy from the Farm Shop or can be reserved by calling01751 475614. There are also opportunities for individuals or businesses to sponsor and name any of the eight races.
