An exciting schedule of free events and activities for people aged 55+ has been unveiled in Stafford Borough and South Staffordshire. ReConnected talks, workshops and meetings are being offered in community centres, village halls and other easy-to-reach venues in these areas.

Backed by the National Lottery Community Fund, ReConnected provides opportunities for people aged 55+ to get together, get active and get involved.

With activities as varied as researching your family tree, crafts, quizzes, exercise, practical engineering challenges and even a murder mystery event. ReConnected is providing opportunities to develop new skills and interests and above all, have fun.

ReConnected activities are managed by local company, CarePlus, and supported by trained volunteers. Activities have been chosen by residents who took part in consultations earlier this year.

"We are really grateful to everyone who told us what they wanted to see in their area," said Jo Smith, the operations manager for customer engagement and support, at Care Plus. "Thanks to their involvement, we can launch something different for people aged over 55 in Stafford Borough and south Staffordshire. ReConnected activities are conveniently located, friendly, welcoming and most importantly, free."

As well as holding events and activities, ReConnected is offering a phone line for people who find it difficult to get out and meet people. The team will keep in touch with regular calls to relieve isolation and build confidence. They can also provide advice for callers who are completing forms, making applications, thinking about support in later life or finding out whether they might be eligible for benefits.
