EnviroBuild is pleased to announce that
it has received a nomination for the 2023 Irish Construction Industry Awards.
Along with seven other construction businesses across Ireland, EnviroBuild have
been chosen as a finalist in the hotly contested “Excellence in Sustainability”
category. The winner will be declared on 2 November this year.
The Irish Construction Industry Awards
have celebrated excellence in the built environment since its inception in
2014. Dedicated to recognising and encouraging businesses that make tangible
positive change in the construction sector, the awards are the pinnacle of
recognition for contractors, businesses, teams, consultants, and projects that
demonstrate originality and innovation within the Irish construction industry.
EnviroBuild have also recently been
announced as finalists at the 2023 Pro Landscaper Sustainability Awards, as
well as the Irish Construction Excellence Awards (ICE Awards) in the
Construction Product Innovation – Building Fabric category. The company will be
present at FutureScape 2023, where the ceremony is due to take place between
21-22 November, with a display stand showcasing its innovative sustainable
solutions as well as to receive their award nomination.
The grand ceremony for the Irish
Construction Industry Awards will include a formal dinner and live
entertainment, and will take place on Thursday, 2 November 2023, as a Black-Tie
Ceremony at the Mansion House, Dublin, DO2 WF63.
EnviroBuild's nomination in the
Excellence in Sustainability category puts them in direct competition with
industry giants like BAM and Cairn, underlining the company's dedication to
pushing the boundaries of sustainable construction practices.
Dr. Aidan Bell, EnviroBuild said: “It is
such an honour to be nominated for the “Excellence in Sustainability” category
at the 2023 Irish Construction Industry Awards. We at EnviroBuild are beyond
proud to be pushing Ireland’s construction industry onto the world map and hope
that our sustainable practices will encourage people and businesses to make
more eco-friendly choices to protect our planet.”
Being shortlisted alongside such major
players is a testament to EnviroBuild's innovative approach to sustainability
and its impact on the construction industry. Its nomination can be primarily
attributed to its pioneering use of Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs).
These declarations are a critical tool that helps in making informed decisions
regarding product development and educates the industry on sustainable
practices. EnviroBuild's commitment to sustainability extends beyond just their
products; it's a core principle that guides their every action.
About
EnviroBuild’s Environmental Impact
EnviroBuild is committed to reducing its
environmental impact, with an emphasis on minimising its impact before
resorting to offsetting. This approach ensures that its offsetting efforts have
a positive impact on the environment.
The business’ commitment extends to
utilising recycled materials, where designs go above and beyond industry
standards. 90% recycled materials are employed in EnviroBuild’s composite
products, sourced from FSC-certified wood, and plastic lumber is crafted from
100% recycled material. In addition to using recycled materials, EnviroBuild is
dedicated to using 100% renewable energy for its composite products and plastic
lumber, resulting in significant reductions in CO2 emissions.
In collaboration with its suppliers,
EnviroBuild has taken strides to reduce environmental impact, such as
transitioning to renewable energy for its composite decking, cladding, and
fencing. This partnership exemplifies EnviroBuild’s commitment to driving
positive change within the industry.
Thanks to EnviroBuild’s collaboration
with Rainforest Trust, over 270,000 acres of rainforest across 25 countries, equivalent
to protecting 61.3 million trees, have been conserved.
EnviroBuild believes that the key to a
more sustainable future is to educate the public on how to make sustainable
changes to their own lives. It has taken an extra step in teaching clients about
the sustainability of its products through Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) and
Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs). EnviroBuild hopes that these
documents will enable clients to make informed decisions when choosing
sustainable options, while also helping the company itself to improve its
product range by pinpointing areas of the greatest environmental impact.
