Yorkshire whisky distillery shortlisted for two awards
Whisky from Yorkshire's first single malt whisky distillery has reached the final of two regional competitions.
Spirit of Yorkshire's Filey Bay Flagship single malt whisky has been shortlisted in the Best Wine and Spirit category of thedeliciouslyorkshire2023 Taste Awards and the Hunmanby-based business has also reached the final of theDrink Producer of the YearAward at theYorkshire LifeFood and Drink Awards 2023.
"Yorkshire is at the heart of everything we do, from growing the barley to filling our bespoke bottles, so it's a great honour to reach the finals of these two awards," said Spirit of Yorkshire's Marketing Director, Jenni Ashwood.
Head Judge of the Taste awards, broadcaster and artisan food expert Nigel Barden said:
"What a pleasure it is to judge such a huge variety of top-quality and innovative Yorkshire food and drink businesses, and as ever, narrowing it down into a shortlist of finalists for each category has been a serious challenge!"
In thedeliciouslyorkshireawards, Spirit of Yorkshire faces competition fromOtterbeck Distillery, Ryedale Vineyards and Yarm Distillery. The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in Harrogate on 7thNovember. The winners of theYorkshire Lifeawards will be published in the November issue of the magazine.
Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery is home to Yorkshire's first single malt whisky, Filey Bay and is one of only a handful of distilleries worldwide that grows barley for whisky production.
