North Yorkshire family businesses collaborate on spring recipes
Two Yorkshire Wolds based family businesses have collaborated to create recipes that celebrate Yorkshire produce.
The team at Thixendale based Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil has created a series of three recipes using apple juice from Yorkshire Wold Apple Juice in Malton to celebrate provenance: Vegetable and Bean Tagine, Pulled Pork Buns with Apple and Fennel Slaw and Apple and Rhubarb Crumble Cake.
Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil's Marketing Manager, Jennie Palmer explained the rationale for the recipe creation: "Here at YRO, we're passionate about spreading the word about fabulous Yorkshire producers. Over the years we have found that the best way to do this is to create recipes that encourage people to try the fabulous food that we have on our doorstep.
"Yorkshire Wolds Apple Juice is a farm-based family business that is just 10 miles away from here in Yorkshire's Food Capital of Malton. We love Jon and Jane Birch's passion for provenance and enthusiasm for excellence."
Jane Birch said: "It was great to taste the recipes created by the team at Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil and know that they put as much love, care and passion into their products as we do - you really can taste it in the dishes.
"We particularly love theApple and Rhubarb Crumble Cake!"
Yorkshire Wolds Apple Juice is one of 21 Yorkshire producers who have been brought together for Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil's third EAT Yorkshire initiative that gives people 10% off online orders during March.
Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil was established in 2008 by the Palmer family on their farm in the heart of the Yorkshire Wolds. They produce a range ofoils, dressings and mayonnaisebased on their award-winning Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil that ispressed, blended, bottled and labelled on the family farm.
Both businesses are celebrating their 15thanniversary this year.
