Heat recovery system continues to deliver savings for Yorkshire farm shop

As the seventh anniversary of the installation of Keelham Farm Shop's heat recovery system approaches, the team at DK Heat Recovery has recalculated the cost savings based on today's fuel price cap.

Keelham Farm Shop is now saving £16,000 and over 72,000 kWh per annum by harnessing waste heat from the busy farm shop, butchery and restaurant's refrigeration units. The savings also equate to a reduction of 124 tonnes over seven years in the Skipton, North Yorkshire business's carbon footprint.

DK Heat Recovery's Sales Director, Ken Riley said: "The heat recovery system that we supplied was a 750-litre storage tank with three internal heat exchangers that are capable of generating over 500 litres of free hot water per hour. The system was also fitted with an optional heat meter that monitors the real-time hot water usage for accurate cost-saving calculations.

"Unlike plate heat exchangers, the twin wall design of the heat recovery
exchangers comply with EN1717, which is a requirement for all potable water use."

In April 2019, DK Heat Recovery installed a further two heat exchangers to cope with increased demand. The installation was completed by Secker and Sons on behalf of Creative Retail Solutions.

"With no moving parts, the DK Heat Recovery system is simple and maintenance-free. It is also highly efficient due to the innovative design of the heat exchangers that can remove up to 100% of the energy produced by the refrigeration plant.

"Since the start of the energy crisis, we have been inundated with enquiries and are seeking additional installers nationwide to help satisfy this demand," concluded Mr Riley.

Based in Beverley, East Yorkshire with a satellite office in Peterborough, DK Heat Recoveryisthe sole UK agent of DK Kaelteanlagen GmbH's heat recovery systems and is supported by a network of installers and refrigeration engineers nationwide. It was established in 2012 by Nigel Upson and David Haughton and has installed heat recovery systems for food manufacturers, supermarkets, farm shops, butchers and garden centres over the last decade.

DK Heat Recovery's systems are suitable for use in any business that has refrigeration plant and a requirement for hot water or space heating.
