With a UK headline tour coming this
Spring, Morganway have launched into 2023 with a brand new single, ‘Wait For Me’,
which received its first rational radio play last Saturday on Planet Rock. Musically ‘Wait For Me’ is the heavier side of the band’s
distinctive Americana sound, led by SJ Mortimer’s fierce vocals and featuring a
prominent fiddle refrain.The track
will be available to download and stream everywhere from Friday 20th
January.
Morganway are the BCMA’s
(British Country Music Association) Group of the Year, for the second year
running, and their dynamic live act has garnered critical acclaim nationally
since their debut album’s release in 2019. With its follow-up on the
horizon, tickets for their upcoming spring tour are already selling fast.
Popular live even before its
release, the dramatic dynamics and fiery delivery of ‘Wait For Me’ create a
striking impact on stage. But beneath the
forceful sound is a heartfelt message about the band experience.
“Wait For Me is a plea to keep
the pack together,” says Nicole J Terry, who co-wrote the song. “It’s finding
the perfect balance of feeling like your opinion matters but making everyone
else feel theirs does too. Wait for me... I’m not there yet, but I’m trying to
be.”
The song was written in-between
lockdowns, where the band, like many other musicians, would do writing sessions
over zoom when face-to-face wasn’t an option. It was a creative time for
Morganway, looking back on the experience of releasing their debut album,
playing live internationally and then suddenly being forced to hit the brakes.
“I’ve been so excited to
release this song and hearing it on Planet Rock was such a rush,” says SJ
Mortimer, who also co-wrote the track.
“This song is like my therapy
to sing live and I think I can speak on behalf of the band and say we can’t
wait to play it on our Back To Zero tour now it’s out in the world.”
Morganway are a Norwich/Cambridge-based
six piece, founded by twins Callum (lead vocals, bass) and Kieran Morgan
(guitar, vocals). SJ Mortimer (lead vocals), Matt Brocklehurst (keyboard,
vocals), Nicole J Terry (fiddle, vocals) and Ed Bullinger (drums, vocals)
complete the lineup.
‘Wait
For Me’ is available on all major streaming platforms from Friday 20th
January. The single will feature on Morganway’s next album, which will be
