Q-Park introduces EV charging to Newcastle

Q-Park are delighted to announce the introduction of Electric Vehicle Charging Points into their Stowell Street parking facility in Newcastle.

Q-Park have operated the Stowell Street car park since 2016 after which they completely renovated the entire facility to bring it into line with Q-Park House Style. It is located in the heart of the Newcastle Chinatown and within walking distance of St James Park, the home of Newcastle United Football Club. The car park is also close to The Gate, intu Eldon Square and the 02 Academy Newcastle. Due to this excellent location the parking facility is extremely popular seven days a week.

Q-Park are currently investing over £3m in the UK and Ireland on the rollout of initially over 600 electric vehicle charging points across their portfolio of parking facilities. Installations commenced last year and included the modernisation of the existing charging infrastructure with the latest state-of-the-art hardware. On completion of this significant deployment programme, discussions will start on future phases with Q-Park eager to remain at the forefront of electric charging in the parking market.

Now that the works at Q-Park Stowell Street have been completed, the parking facility has three 22kW Electric Vehicle charging points operated by EB Charging and are charged on a pay as you go basis. They are located on Level 5 of the car park. Users wanting to sign up to use the charging point are required to download the EB Go! smart phone app that is available for free download in the Apple and Google Play store.

John Denton, Head of Commercial at Q-Park UK and IE commented ‘Liveability in urban areas is vitally important, and we are delighted to help support more emission free miles being driven with good quality charging infrastructure. Our comprehensive chargepoint roll-out is progressing throughout the country in 2023 but it's especially pleasing when it's the first Q-Park EV charging services to be installed in Newcastle.'
