British Breeding Baileys Horse Feeds Futurity Evaluation recognises
Top Scoring Showjumping Foal from Great Sankey

Walter and Jane Scott have received recognition for breeding the top scoring foal for showjumping the British Breeding Baileys Horse Feeds Futurity Evaluations at Reaseheath College, Cheshire recently.

The Futurity Evaluation series aims to identify British-bred young potential sport horses and ponies destined for careers in dressage, eventing, showjumping or endurance.  It may even find the stars of the future who will go on to compete at World Championships, or become Olympic Champions.

So far, so good for Sophia TS.  She's by Van Gogh out of Hayavanta (Carembar De Muze), who achieved the highest showjumping score at the venue - 8.75 - a Gold award.  "The filly's dam, Hayavanta, was bought as a foal in Holland due to her fantastic dam line. Her offspring include a Big Star Stallion, Kensington Star, now 7 and competing at 1m 40 in America. All her other 5 offspring are fillies and are retained by myself", explained Walter. "Her 6 year old by Diamant de Semilly achieved 8.8 as a foal at the Futurity, and has now had 2 foals of her own. One is her colt by Van Gogh and his exceptional quality lead me to use Van Gogh on Hayavanta. Sofia will be retained, and eventually go into sport. Hayavanta has been scanned in foal to Big Star for next year and we are hoping for a filly this time."

The Scotts live in Great Sankey, Warrington with their horses at home. Walter and Jane are retired from the NHS:  Walter as a Dentist and Jane as a Children's Matron.  "This is now our full time hobby as we currently have 20 horses on our smallholding.  Sofia has been very sociable from day one. She loves to play with our other 2 filly foals. She is a mini version of Hayavanta!"

A Director of British Breeding said of the evaluations"Wonderful quality young horses are again being presented this year and breeders are getting valuable feedback from the expert evaluators.  Since its inception the Futurity has identified many youngsters who we are now seeing at top level competition and on British Teams such as Lordships Graffalo and Pencos Crown Jewel competing in Eventing with Ros Canter and Carouet competing with Sarah Bullimore."

Futurity scores are used by many breeders as a credible marketing tool for their young horses, adding value to a young horse whilst it is still too young to have achieved a performance recordFor more information, visitwww.british-breeding.com
