Yorkshire family businesses collaborate for festive recipes

 

Two Yorkshire-based family businesses have collaborated to festive recipes that celebrate Yorkshire produce.

 

The team at Thixendale-based Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil have created a series of party food recipes using smoked duck, trout and salmon from Staal Smokehouse to celebrate the festive season.

 

The recipes includeSmoked Trout, Chilli and Coriander Mini Fishcakes, Smoked Salmon, Lemon and Caper Palmiers and Smoked Duck, Apple and Horseradish Pots with Smoked Sourdough Toasts.

 

Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil's Marketing Manager, Jennie Palmer explained the rationale for the recipe creation: "Here at YRO, we're passionate about cooking and love collaborating with the fabulous Yorkshire producers that we have on our doorstep, so it seems logical to encourage people to try new things by creating simple, delicious dishes for them to make at home."

 

"We met Justin and Georgina Staal at a Farmers' Market over a decade ago and subsequently collaborated to produce our multi-award-winning Oak Smoked Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil, but this is the first time that we have created bespoke recipes using their produce. As with all quality ingredients, it was a delight to cook with and the dishes are delicious and are perfect for festive entertaining."

 

Mrs Staal said: "Like the team at YRO, we try to encourage people to be more adventurous with food and do this by creating quick and easy recipes for all the family to enjoy.

"We love the sound of all three of these recipes, but particularly love the sound of theSmoked Duck, Apple and Horseradish Pots with Smoked Sourdough Toasts. We can see that theywill become our go-to easy entertaining dish this Christmas."

 

Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil was established in 2008 by the Palmer family on their farm in the heart of the Yorkshire Wolds. They produce a range ofoils, dressings and mayonnaise-basedon their award-winning Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil that ispressed, blended, bottled and labelled on the family farm.

 

Established in 2011, Staal Smokehouse uses traditional curing techniques that have been honed and perfected over hundreds of years to produce a range of smoked fish and poultry that is enjoyed in restaurants and sold online and via selected specialist retailers throughout Yorkshire.
